Organizational Assessment
A comprehensive look at what exists, what is working, what is broken, what is missing, and what needs to change.
Leadership & organizational advisory · Middle Tennessee
The Curated Purpose partners with nonprofit leaders navigating growth, transition, complexity, or organizational challenges that have become difficult to solve from inside the organization.
Help organizations move from where they are, through what is holding them back, and toward greater clarity, alignment, execution, and impact.
Thought partners. Creative problem solvers. Executive-level collaborators — close enough to determine what needs to change, and close enough to move it forward.

We do not operate like traditional consultants who assess a problem, make recommendations, and leave implementation to someone else. We work alongside leaders as thought partners, creative problem solvers, and executive-level collaborators — close enough to determine what needs to change, and close enough to move it forward.
A working belief
Strategy without execution creates frustration. Execution without alignment creates friction. Sustainable progress requires both.
Where we come in
Our goal is straightforward. Help organizations move from where they are, through what is holding them back, and toward greater clarity, alignment, execution, and impact.
Sometimes the problem is operational. Sometimes it is relational. Usually, it is both. That intersection is where The Curated Purpose does its best work.
How we work
01
See clearly
We listen, observe, gather information, and understand the organization as it actually operates.
02
Understand deeply
We identify the issues beneath the symptoms — distinguishing isolated problems from structural or leadership challenges.
03
Build intentionally
We design the structures, priorities, systems, roles, and solutions required to move forward.
04
Execute sustainably
When needed, we stay engaged through implementation, accountability, and change — so the work does not end with a recommendation.

Approach
We do not operate like traditional consultants who assess a problem, make recommendations, and leave implementation to someone else. We work alongside leaders as thought partners, creative problem solvers, and executive-level collaborators — close enough to determine what needs to change, and close enough to move it forward.

01
See clearly
Leadership and board interviews, staff and stakeholder surveys, a systems inventory, and a full document review. We understand the organization as it actually operates — people, systems, documents, and rhythms — before we prescribe anything.
Deliverable: Infrastructure assessment
02
Understand deeply
An ownership model makes gaps visible. Functions without an owner are risks. Functions with the wrong owner are bottlenecks. We name what is working, what is broken, what is confusing, and what is missing — with ownership attached.
Deliverable: Organizational health assessment
03
Build intentionally
Governance governs. The CEO leads. The executive team manages. Infrastructure enables. We design the future-state organization so those four layers stop collapsing into each other.
Deliverable: Future-state organizational design
04
Execute sustainably
Activation is a roadmap that becomes an implementation plan. Foundation, then visibility, then growth. Not everything at once. We remain close enough to the work to move it forward.

Assessment lens
01
What systems, tools, processes, and structures are currently in place?
02
What is consistently producing the desired outcomes?
03
Where are bottlenecks, confusion, duplication, or risk occurring?
04
What capabilities are required but do not currently exist?
05
What should be improved, replaced, simplified, or strengthened to support future growth?
Strategy without execution creates frustration. Execution without alignment creates friction. Sustainable progress requires both.
We do not want to hand leaders another binder of recommendations. We want to work alongside them until the organization has greater clarity about where it is going — and greater capacity to get there.

Andrea leads
Rather than starting with predetermined solutions, we begin by understanding the organization — its mission, people, systems, leadership, operations, and current realities. The result is a clear picture of organizational health and a practical path forward.

Strong organizations require more than sound systems. We work with executives, boards, and teams to strengthen leadership alignment, clarify roles, improve communication, address relational friction, and build greater organizational accountability.

Shared · CEO, COO, board-level
We provide fractional CEO, COO, and board-level support during seasons of growth, transition, restructuring, or increased complexity. We can step into leadership gaps, build the infrastructure required for the next stage, facilitate critical decisions, and move priorities from discussion into execution.
How we show up
Every engagement names a level — advise, produce, lead, or execute — so the organization knows what to expect, and we know where authority begins and ends.
Advise
Analysis, counsel, recommendations, and executive perspective. We sit beside the decision-maker.
Produce
Defined deliverables and project leadership within an agreed scope — assessments, infrastructure, formation documents, roadmaps.
Lead
Ongoing executive leadership within specifically delegated authority. We own a function until the organization can.
Execute
Defined operational implementation of agreed priorities — systems stood up, cadences installed, work actually moving.
Retainers are available when the work is ongoing rather than a single project. Fees follow the scope — project, monthly, or fractional capacity — never mystery hours.

Workstreams
A Scope of Work names the streams that apply. The rest are out. That discipline is the difference between counsel and fog.
Clarity of role, decision rights, culture, and the relationship between board, CEO, and staff.
Mission relevance, market position, priorities, and a practical plan that leadership can actually run.
The systems, workflows, and accountability that turn intention into repeatable execution.
Who owns what. Reporting lines, role design, and the difference between governing, leading, and managing.
Board effectiveness, fiduciary practice, policies, and a meeting rhythm that produces decisions.
Stewardship, visibility, cash, controls, and the questions a board should be able to answer.
Donor development, retention, major gifts, and revenue operations that do not depend on one heroic fundraiser.
Whether an outsider can understand the organization in thirty seconds — and whether the story is being told.
Organizational assessment
Designed for nonprofit boards, executive leadership, donors, and strategic partners who need a comprehensive understanding of sustainability and future potential.
Final deliverables
The result is a practical assessment that enables leadership to make informed decisions, strengthen effectiveness, improve sustainability, and maximize mission impact.
Boundaries
Unless it is written into the Scope of Work, we do not provide bookkeeping or legal advice, run daily staff supervision, or stay on after close as unpaid implementation. Clear edges protect the work.
You do not need to know exactly what kind of engagement you need before reaching out. A conversation is usually enough to determine whether the challenge requires organizational assessment, leadership alignment, fractional executive support, or simply an experienced outside perspective.

Network-supported. Locally invested.
Let’s Rebuild curates and connects trusted leaders, practitioners, and proven resources that help strengthen families, communities, and the institutions that serve them. Network-supported. Locally invested. A chartered program of The Dignity Imperative.
We drafted the operating model — coalitions as tables around a shared burden, a membership cycle, honest stage labels, and Community Action Councils — so the network can build relationships first and coordinate action without replacing the organizations in the room.
Coalitions do not exist to replace organizations. They exist to build trust, strengthen existing work, and coordinate action where collective effort creates greater Kingdom impact.

A platform, not an umbrella
A Christian public charity that develops, launches, and stewards distinct Chartered Programs to secure human dignity, advance holistic flourishing, and nurture sustainable resilience.
We helped TDI name the institutional model: keep mission-specific leadership close to each Program, and centralize fiduciary, financial, legal, risk, and systems capacity where professional discipline actually matters.
Important work needs more than inspiration. It needs an institutional home capable of carrying it well.

Belong. Grow. Create.
A formative creative community for young artists and makers in Franklin, Tennessee — mentorship, craft, belonging, and character formation, with The Odeon as its home.
We helped FlaxCo name what success actually is: not attendance counts, but whether sustained engagement produces belonging, formation, creative development, relationships, opportunity, and vocational direction.
Young creatives don’t just come through the door. They stay long enough for something meaningful to happen.

About
The Curated Purpose is led by Andrea and Will McGinniss, bringing complementary executive strengths to every engagement.

Together they bring more than twenty-five years of leadership across nonprofit organizations, international work, organizational growth, fundraising, operations, team leadership, and organizational development — including leading multicultural, multigenerational, and geographically distributed teams through growth, crisis, transition, and change.
Andrea works at the intersection of strategy and execution. Will works at the intersection of leadership, relationships, communication, and alignment. People and systems. Vision and follow-through. That is the pairing.
Sometimes the problem is operational. Sometimes it is relational. Usually, it is both. That intersection is where The Curated Purpose does its best work.
Organizations typically come to us disorganized and stalled. Our goal is for them to leave aligned and moving.
How we are built
In Working Genius language, Andrea is Discernment and Tenacity. Will is Galvanizing and Enablement. Together they form a hand-off: vet, rally, support, complete — so a vision does not collapse under its own weight.
DT · Execution Lead
The Judicious Accomplisher
Andrea is not just a doer. She is a prudent doer — combining intuitive judgment with relentless follow-through so the work being done is high-quality and actually necessary.
Discernment
Pattern recognition and gut-level evaluation. She can look at an idea and sense pitfalls or improvements without needing exhaustive data.
Tenacity
The closer. She draws energy from crossing the finish line and ensuring a project is completed to the required standard.
GE · Alignment Lead
The Enthusiastic Encourager
Will supplies the energy that moves a project from thinking into acting — then stays close enough to remove the friction that would otherwise stall the people doing the work.
Galvanizing
The catalyst. He rallies people, breaks the analytical loop, and pushes for a go decision once an idea has been vetted.
Enablement
Quiet, responsive assistance. He keeps the wheels turning — clearing obstacles, lining up resources, and holding the people through the grind.

Co-founder · Execution Lead
The intersection of strategy and execution.
Andrea’s experience includes executive nonprofit leadership, organizational operations, financial and governance infrastructure, team accountability, systems development, organizational assessment, and implementation. As Executive Director and CEO of the Hands & Feet Project (2018–2025), she led a complex organization across Haiti and Tennessee — more than 200 employees, multiple cultures, and seasons of growth, crisis, and change. She turns organizational priorities into structures that can actually support them.

Will’s background spans nonprofit leadership, donor and relationship development, team leadership, live events, creative industries, ministry, and organizational culture. A co-founder of Audio Adrenaline and a two-time Grammy Award winner, he co-founded the Hands & Feet Project in 2004. His work has required him to build trust across diverse audiences, align people around shared purpose, navigate complex relational environments, and move ideas forward through communication and influence.

The hand-off
They do not overlap for sport. Each person owns an altitude so the project can move without burning the people carrying it.
01
Andrea · Discernment
Before an idea becomes work, Andrea pokes holes. She names what is weak, what the labor will actually cost, and whether the finish line is real.
02
Will · Galvanizing
Once the idea is vetted, Will turns it into a go. He aligns people, names the marching orders, and supplies the kick-off energy a closer needs in order to start.
03
Will · Enablement
During implementation, Will switches modes: resources, roadblocks, administrative friction. He keeps the team able to stay going.
04
Andrea · Tenacity
Andrea owns the last stretch — checklists, quality, and the definition of done — so the work is finished, not merely announced.
For the visionary in the room
Most of the organizations we serve are led by people who invent and discern well — and then stall between a good idea and a finished result. That is the gap this pairing was made to close.
Visionaries often lose interest once an idea is invented and vetted. Andrea finds energy in the final stretch. She takes a sound idea and makes sure it does not die on the vine.
Two people who love to refine can refine forever. Will is the one who says we have talked enough — we are doing this — and then stays to make doing it possible.
New ideas feel like oxygen to an inventor and like moving goalposts to the people responsible for finishing. Andrea guards the finish line. Will translates only what has been vetted.
Excitement is not a definition of done. Andrea brings the tenacity for minutiae — checklists, deadlines, quality — that visionary work often skips. Will makes sure she is not left alone in the grind.
Meeting at the right altitude
Effective teams meet at the altitude the work actually needs — so the person ready to finish is not trapped in another brainstorm, and the person ready to rally is not sitting through a post-mortem.
Andrea leads · Will listens for who must be rallied
A vetted, workable plan — or a clean no.
Will leads
Shared enthusiasm, named owners, a real start.
Will enables · Andrea tracks progress
Obstacles removed. The finish line still visible.
Andrea leads · Will holds the people through it
Completion to the required standard.

The years underneath
Before The Curated Purpose, Andrea and Will spent years inside the Hands & Feet Project — a ministry they helped build from Audio Adrenaline’s stage into children’s villages in Haiti, and later into a complex U.S. and Haiti operation with more than two hundred staff. They know what it is to grow something that outruns its systems, and what it costs when structure lags behind calling.
Will’s other work — as CEO of Haiti Made and Beyond Borders — taught the same lesson from another angle: creative work still needs operations, relationships still need stewardship, and a mission still needs a calendar.
